Planning applications and development in Kinwarton
In the national planning process, parish councils are statutory consultees and are invited to comment on any planning applications which fall within their area pf responsibility. The planning authority which governs Kinwarton is Stratford-on-Avon District Council which notifies the Parish Council about applications received within the boundaries of the parish, and sometimes other applications which lie adjacent to the parish but may have an impact on the parish. It is important to note that parish councils do not make decisions on planning applications and can only submit their views to the planning authority concerned.
However, Parish Councils can influence (but not determine) future larger development proposals through the local planning process, which looks ahead 5+ years. This is why it is important for local residents to continually fully engage with the Parish Council so that local views are built into the process. In our area, Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District Councils are working together to produce the ‘South Warwickshire Local Plan‘ which covers their combined geographical areas.
All planning applications received are considered at the next scheduled meeting of the Parish Council. If the date for ‘comments due’ on planning applications falls before the next meeting then the Parish Council Planning Sub-Committee will meet prior to the required date to consider the application.
Planning applications can be viewed online at the Stratford District E-planning system. Click on the button below to access E-planning.
